چکیده

Among inorganic contaminants, arsenic (As) is known for its toxicity and the risks to environment human health that could derive from presence. Phytoremediation represents an effective strategy removal of contaminated soil, provided suitable plant species adequate operational plans are exploited. With reference a disused area located in Southern Italy which was subject previous study, this work, new strategies were investigated further improve effectiveness phytoremediation plan arsenic. The usefulness Cannabis sativa (hemp) Zea mays (corn) evaluated work by microcosm (300 g mixed soil per test) mesocosm (4 kg + 1 inert gravel experiments. addition arsenic-tolerant bacteria isolated rhizosphere native herbaceous grown employed promote growth, while different mixtures mobilizing agents tested bioavailability. After combined treatment, content aerial parts plants increased about 10 times case corn (from 1.23 10.41 mg kg−1) 8 hemp 1.05 8.12 kg−1).

Phytoextraction of heavy metal polluted soils using Sedum plumbizincicola inoculated with metal mobilizing Phyllobacterium myrsinacearum RC6b.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of metal mobilizing plant-growth beneficial bacterium Phyllobacterium myrsinacearum RC6b on plant growth and Cd, Zn and Pb uptake by Sedum plumbizincicola under laboratory conditions. Among a collection of metal-resistant bacteria, P. myrsinacearum RC6b was specifically chosen as a most favorable metal mobilizer based on its capability of mob...

Phytoextraction of arsenic from soil by Leersia oryzoides.

The potential of Leersia oryzoides (rice-cut grass) to remediate arsenic-contaminated soil was studied in greenhouse pot experiments. Leersia oryzoides grown in soil amended with arsenic to a concentration of 110 mg kg(-1), extracted up to 305 mg kg(-1) and 272 mg kg(-1) arsenic into its shoots and roots, respectively, giving a shoot:root quotient of 1.12 and phytoextraction coefficients up to ...

Diversity, Metabolic Properties and Arsenic Mobilization Potential of Indigenous Bacteria in Arsenic Contaminated Groundwater of West Bengal, India

Arsenic (As) mobilization in alluvial aquifers is caused by a complex interplay of hydro-geo-microbiological activities. Nevertheless, diversity and biogeochemical significance of indigenous bacteria in Bengal Delta Plain are not well documented. We have deciphered bacterial community compositions and metabolic properties in As contaminated groundwater of West Bengal to define their role in As ...
